Best motor for a civic swap
I am planning on swapping my d16y8 v-tec engine out for a b16b,unless someone tells me theres a better engine for the job. I was going to stick with the d16, but its got 190,000 miles, and think this is a perfect time to put a better engine in. Any feedback you have would be great.

Re: Best motor for a civic swap
Don't get the B16B, you'll be wasting you $. Get the B18C1 and spend the rest of the $ you saved, on parts.

Re: Best motor for a civic swap
You will need to get new shift linkage, new motor mounts, new axles and a new ECU on top of the swap parts. The swap is pretty basic...no more or no less difficult than the B16B (civic hype R) you were thinking of using.
Your best bet is to find either a B18C1 (GSR) engine or build (if you can or someone you know can) an LS/VTEC. The cost of all this should be in the $2500-3500 range depending on where you get the engine, its condition and so forth....
