Bent my pulley
So when putting on a new pulley, will I need that damn special pulley puller? I would rather not have to buy one, but learned the hard way that it is necessary for removal and I really don't want to mess up the new pulley I am going to buy when I go to install it. Sorry, venting.So... as long as I am getting a new pulley I may as well as get a smaller one right. I have CAI, and ubend delete done. What pcm do I get? What is the smallest pulley I want to get at this point? |

Re: Bent my pulley
Not only does the special pulley puller help get the old pulley off but help install the new one so you do not damage it or the snout. See link below.
Click here If you plan on using your GTP as a daily driver and concerned with fuel economy then I would consider a 3.4" but nothing smaller unless you get more supporting mods like exhaust, i.e. - bigger downpipe, PEM or headers. Remember knock retard (KR) is always a concern. Also, you will need one or two range colder on the spark plugs. On PCMs you have the choice of DHP, ZZP or Intense. My personal favorite is the DHP. They are all around $99 or less now. Another option on a SC pulley system is to go with a modular pulley system if you have the funds available. Good luck.

Re: Bent my pulley
Well, I am going with the modular system with a 3.4" pulley for now. Do you know which NGK plugs I should have? Also, what makes the DHP your favorite pcm? Thanks
Oh, and one more thing. There shouldn't be any play in the water pump pulley should there? |

Re: Bent my pulley
I would go with Autolite Copper Core spark plugs. Most of us with mods use ALs. Easy to remember numbering system for heat ranges and low cost. For a 3.4" pulley either 605 or 104.
The DHP is the number one by choice due to reliability and the least amount of complaints. ZZP is OK but some members have complained about some tranny line pressure problems due to the way ZZP may have programmed it. Intense is OK but members have complained about it in the past causing problems. Those bugs have been worked out. The water pump pulley should have either no free play or very little. If you grab the top of the pulley you may feel very slight movement but nothing significant. Also, check the pulley bolts for proper torque too.
