Fuel Injector..............
REF: 97 cavalier, 2.2 ltr
I'm occassionally smelling gas while driving the car. Sometimes its pretty bad. Anyway, after a little research, I did notice one of the fuel injectors shows signs of dampness (collection of dirt where it was damp). This is the only evidence of possible fuel leak I can find. Two questions: is it a pretty safe bet that the gasoline smell while driving is coming from this injector, and two, how hard or easy would it be to change it? Thanks.

The 134-inch OHV is fairly easy. OHC engines are bit more of a chore. For single cam engines, the injectors are side-feeders and are held in by a forked rail. The rail is held at the front (RH) of the engine by the regulator screw, and has two more screws along its length. If the injector is on either #3 or #4, you don't even have to remove the regulator, but can remove the two rearmost screws and flex the rail outward to release the injectors.
Make sure you clean the area around the injectors before removing them to prevent contaminating the fuel rail and intake.

yeah that's pretty much the way of it, make sure you don't lose the clips (metal retaining clips) unless you live close to a gm dealer they're hard to replace, couldn't find it at auto zone, advance auto, or napa. There's actually two clips there... one holding it to the fuel rail, and one holding the clip to the injetor... don't lose either, lol....
