95 grand am engine change....
currently i have a 3100 v6 engine in my car but i was told that because the heads are made of aluminum they heat up fast and can overheat your engine causing you to require a head gasket job. is there another better engine that will fit into this chasis?

Re: 95 grand am engine change....
Welcome to AF.
Not realy. Unless you have a $2-4K just laying around. Thier isnt realy an issue with the 3.1 or the 3.4 overheating unless you have a poor cooling system or a LIM gasket bad. In fact almost all engines today use aluminum heads because they are much lighter and cheaper. But with a good working cooling system and good gaskets I've not had many problems with head gaskets on these V6's. Another thing to do is install a 185 deg thermostat to keep the engine running even cooler. IMO the V6's are much better then thier 4cyl counterparts.
