thermostat

On the 2.8 mpfi, what all do you have to remove to get to the damn thermostat? I can't see it but i don't want to tear the whole top of the motor apart looking for it.

Re: thermostat

Should just be under the water neck...follow your radiator hose.

Re: thermostat

its the aluminum piece connected to the top motor. be careful w. the bolt, i broke a bolt on it.. had to drill it out.. real crappy. soak that thing with WD-40 or something real good.

Re: thermostat

i'm pretty sure the 2.8 is just like the 3.1 I used to have. If i remember correctly i had to remove the intake ducting, take off the top of the intake plenum (i think it was 8 bolts around the perimeter) and that involved removing a bracket (dont remember what it was for). and then you can access the thermostat housing right below it.

not as easy as a bigger v8 engine.

Re: thermostat

bracket is for A/C housing. Found out the stat wasn't the problem after all, so i'm saving myself the headache and not messing with the fuel injection system. I just needed new hoses. Changed they belt while i was at it.
