1994 Jetta GLS Electrical Problems!

94 Jetta GLS...Speedo and Tach (gauges) work intermittently. When they DO work, the oil and temp lights come on, blink and beep like crazy. When the speedo/tach stop working, the warning lights go out. This all happens randomly...there is no rhyme or reason to when it happens! The car is filled with oil, the coolant is full and there are no leaks. Sounds like a bad connection to me...but where to I begin to look? PLEASE HELP!

Check the wire harness going to the instrument cluster. If it's tight, the cluster itself may be bad. You need a service manual for your year to properly troubleshoot. A dealer could probably fix it or you may be able to get a new cluster from a junk yard for less.
