85 caprice windshield

how hard is it to pull the chrome molding off of the windshield? we are trying to find a leak?

can someone send instructions on getting that piece off?

There is a tool made to release the moulding clips. It looks a little like a bent/offset putty knife. You may be able to slightly lift the moulding and get a flat tool under it to release the cat-whisker wire f the clips. Later years used a completely plastic clip, but your '85 likely still has the steel/wire clips.

I dunno, my '84 (manufactured in december of '83) has the fully plastic clips.

theres a tool for this otherwise you may break some of them or bend the trim

it is kinda tricky/risky

I got the tool for around $19 at a local parts store, made by K&D. It comes with instructions too. My advice is to start taking off the molding that is easiest to reach and see under it as you learn how to work the tool.

You're bound to break one or more of those clips, which are available in auto body supply stores, glass shops or from Motormite (Help product line in many parts stores).
