Unhappy AW4 Transmission shift problem

Hi there... I have an '87 Cherokee with an AW4 transm. on it and this is what happens.

P....... ok

R....... ok

N....... ok

(D)..... No overdrive, it tries to engage but it loses it

3....... Only two gears (it's supoused to be 3 right?)

1-2.... Only one gear (it's supoused to be 2 right?

Any ideas? I'm going worried , she is good I don't wanna lose it.
Thanks in advance

Maybe your shift linkage is out of adjustment. Did you do a lift? Is you transfer case droppped?

Next issue...did you rebuild the NSS?
