anyone know what this is like?
saw this a while back when someone alerted the forum of it's imminent release.
Renaissance TK24/251 Porsche 911 GT3 Road challenge Transkit. ![]() Well, now it's out and really gnawing at the back of mind so... anyone know what it's like? anyone have it? how do their products stand in general? from the photo, it looks like everything is there to make a GT3RS road version apart from interior but that can be made up from the tamiya kit. the important parts externally are the wheels, the new mk2 nose and rear wing. The skirts are incorrect but I can't think of any transkit that has the mk2 skirts but they aren't too hard to putty up.

Re: anyone know what this is like?
No idea.
But not long ago a 993 street version crossed my doorstep, and I sure am enjoying doing the bodywork on it. ![]() Sorry I can't be of more help....

Hello, for the quality, even if I can only admit I sometimes criticise them for some inaccuracy or about their own critics about other brands, Renaissance is one of the best brand of the market. the main problem is their roll cage, molded in one part, but for a TK it mustn't be a problem. This Transkit is not for a GT3 RS, but is to convert the GT3 in the rally version as racing in Belgium or France, the "GT3 Road Challenge" which is a GT car close to a Group N. here are some pictures of what the cars look like: ![]() ![]() ![]() I will see Renaissance next sunday and am planning to get one of this TK, even if there's still no decal to match with... I'll be able to tell you more about this TK after this purchase. Phil |

i think you might be thinking of a different GT3RS. the one I'm talking about is the road car: ![]() and as near as i can tell, the wheels, nose and spoiler in this kit matches the mk2 (only) RS version of the car (which admittedly also looks a lot like an ordinary mk2 GT3...) ![]() considering the GT3s all came with a clubsport option that has a roll cage, I figured the TK wouldn't be too much of a stretch to build as a mk2 GT3/RS.

apart from the tamiya GT2 kit, you don't see them that often. Y'know what? I bought myself a revell 993 turbo kit just the other day...... there is no hope for me.

This TK is for the Rally road challenge Porsche GT3, but if this car is close to the new GT3 RS so yes it would probably allow to build such a car. Could you tell me what is missing to build the GT3 Rs mk2 (inside? side skirts? - but aren't the original tamiya parts usefull then?), I will say that to Renaissance maybe he will consider that for a additional TK or second version. Re: anyone know what this is like?
if you look at the GT3RS pic, you can see that the wing mirrors are actually slightly different to.
you can also see that for the normal MK2 GT3, the rear wing is slightly different and the nose doesn't have the vents. the sills are softer on the MK1 car than on the MK2 car MK1 GT3 ![]() interior wise, it's not that much different with the exception of an optional clucbsport package that includes a roll cage, fire extinguisher and a very expensive bit of plastic on the "transmission tunnel". (can't find a pic). the tamiya kit is easily modified to resemble the GT3/RS interior. if you are going to have words with them, maybe hint at maybe a 996 turbo body transkit.... that way, we can also do minor mods to make a 996 GT2 to complete the set.

I doubt they would release a full body without many demands. But I will report that demand to them. Wait and see. Phil |

Re: anyone know what this is like?
not sure about total demand but i've been dying for transkits for the complete 996 911 range for years.
996 turbo would need new: front bumper rear bumper rear wing body/sides 996 GT2 is very similar to the turbo but with different rear wing and vents on the nose. GT3 and GT3 RS can be easily taken care of from the existing Tk anyway.

Re: anyone know what this is like?
Hello,
I met Renaissance last sunday on a modelling show. I asked him some questions about the possible Porsche TK release under the brand, but nothing has to be expected concerning TK for different Porsche cars which would need complete or complicated trankits... that more clearly means Renaissance doesn't plan to release some TK allowing to transform the existing cars into another ones, especially street cars; so Renaissance only could release some new TKs or decals for existing or already Transkited models. nevertheless, as I thought to, the Road Challenge TK couldn't come alone... So please find here what I found to match with and the car I will be able to build: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...38#post4695038 Phil |

Re: anyone know what this is like?
it's a shame but then again, the new nose with the new lights and decent enough wheels is enough for me to use as a base for different versions.
looks like i'll have order four of that TK i was looking at now...
