before dashboard re-assembly

I have most of my dash apart; put in a new radio and replaced a dash light behind the gauges that burned out a year ago. Thought I would ask if there’s anything I should do before reassembling. I’d hate to find out later that it would have been a good idea to replace the “spectrometer metering valve” or some such thing while it was all torn apart. I’m also hoping to avoid squeaks. I thought about putting a small glob of silicone at strategic points behind each dash part, letting that dry overnight. Now I’m wondering if that could cause squeaks.

Re: before dashboard re-assembly

Haven't done this myself but perhaps while you've got it all apart you should replace all the bulbs?
At least that way you know they're all new.

Not sure about the silicon though. Did you have a squeak problem before?

Don't mess with the "spectrometer metering valve": That will void the warranty.

Re: before dashboard re-assembly

Good point, way! I should have mentioned that I replaced them all will LED bulbs. I'm glad you caught that.

Just a minor squeak problem before, only noticable on bumpy roads. I started reassembly yesterday; I'm trying the dried silicon strip idea just in the places I suspect the old squeak might have come from. Hope this wasn't a mistake, should know in a few days. I'm probably over-thinking this a bit. I had a tube of high-heat brown-glop just lying around, seemed worth a try.

I don't imagine the dried silicon would hurt anything. I hope it works for you.

At least you know you won't have to change any bulbs behind there anytime soon.

I Seriously check out your heater blower motor/ fan because if it's weak or making any noise, it requires you to remove the complete dash in order to gain access to the blower motor and replace it.....the genius that designed this setup must have had his head up his azz the day he came up with that design... .
