Just bought a 66 with a 289, me happy!
I'll post pics when I pick it up next week.
It has 37k original miles, and it has a fresh number matching drive train. Paid 3k for it

Sweet deal Tony! Coupe or fast back? I love the 65/66 cars. My favorite is actually the '66, I like the chrome better.

Re: Just bought a 66 with a 289, me happy!
To be honest with you my favorite mustangs overall are the 65/66 cars both coupe and fastback. I like the wider spread of the vents on the 65/66 fastback compared to the 67/68 cars where the vents were more "narrow". As far as the coupes go I would love to have a candy apple red '66 coupe with a big ass roots blower hanging thrue the hood. Also I think the 65/66 coupes look badass with the Boss 429 hood scoop. The only thing I like better about the 66 is the 3 "stripes" of chrome that extend from the peice behind the door. Its all personal opinion really, but I just like the long low profile of these cars. Half the car is in the hood lol.

I mush perfer the Fastback look. Midnight Blue, with bad ass tires in the back! At the stop light, watching the hood rumble, because you have put too big of a cam, in your high revving 289. Oh, American Muscle
Like those import guys could such a feeling

Re: Just bought a 66 with a 289, me happy!
I had a 65 Fastback 2+2 289 4spd. Top Loader. That was back in 03-04. I bought it from my cousin because, he had a Cobra kit car built. It was Silverblue with the white Mustang stripes on the rockers (under the doors). Light blue/white pony interior also. It was stock except for a 600 Edelbrock and Performer RPM intake. I always wanted that car since I was 14 years old when he took me for a ride in it when he first got it. I only drove it 4 times. I just couldn't get used to the big truck steering wheel (no p/s). Becuase of that I would have to turn my legs outward just to get in and let the clutch out w/my knee going towards the door, not to mention the lack of p/s, p/b, A/C. It was just more work to drive than fun. Plus, I couldn't put my daughter's car seat in the back, nor would I want to with the gas tank situation with those early cars. Anytime we went to a car show we'd take my car then my Wife and daughter in another.
Then I thought about restomoding it. Until I added up everything I wanted to do ($$$). Then I relized I really wanted another 5.0. So I sold it. The hardest part about selling it was when I told my cousin that I sold the car that I had all these plans for. He took it better than I thought he would though, probably because he's got the Cobra kit car! I love the old Stangs, but they're just not what I expected. I FEEL LIKE I'VE JUST BEEN TO CONFESSION! SORRY FOR THE BOOK |

Ya, I hear ya. This one has power steering, so I hope its a good driver. If not, I will fix the small issues with it, and turn around and sell it. I am also bidding on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...2315&rd=1&rd=1
