91 Prelude SR

Yet another project started when I already have a ton that aren't even finished. Oh well, what can I say?

Anywho...... It's Fujimi's Prelude 2.0 Si. The idea is to turn it into my car... er... rather how I want my car to be once I have the $$ to do all the work.

The Plan: Modify front and rear bumpers to look like the 90/91 Prelude as opposed to the 88/89 Prelude. Cut open hood and headlights. Modify Revell B series engine to look like a H22 (The engine I want to swap into my car... get rid of the oil burning B21). Modify tail lights to look like the 90/91 tail lights. C/F hood, maybe C/F decklid (I'll end up with a C/F decklid on my car, but don't know yet weather I'll paint it or not). This kit actually has a really good body and interior, the chassis however is absolutely horrible. It's one of those ones intended for the motorized model, to make things worse, it's molded as RWD for a FWD car. So I think I may modify the Revell Integra chassis to get the underside. Preferably some Fujimi 17" TE37s if I can ever find any. Badges all shaved. Also some racing seats, and lots of other smaller details.

PICS!!!!!
My car

Re: 91 Prelude SR

This is what I might do if I leave the C/F decklid exposed. Pant the roof black.

Yehhhh!! Honda!!!
So the car on your avatar is your Prelude? I always thought it was an F355...o_O
So,to put an H22...The Revell civic 92-95 has a longer B series engine. At least I saw somewhere...Sooo...

Re: 91 Prelude SR

HAHA, yeah sometimes these can sorta look like Ferrari's, they're also known as baby NSXs. I compared all the Revell B series engines, they're all pretty much identical. I've got reference pics of H22s so hopefully It'll all work. If anyone knows of a better source to use I'd appreciate it!

Re: 91 Prelude SR

I like that gold one you got there. You can use the Integra B series engine from the revell kits. They look identical but the h22 in reality is a bit bigger. All you need to do is paint the valve cover black like the h22. I look forward to seeing this one.

actually they are quite different looking when you know what your looking at.

The B series dizzy is on the intake cam while the H series is on the exhaust cam. The alt is on the front of the H but it's on the back of the B, those are two big differences that are the easiest to notice other than the valve cover and shear size of the H motor

Re: 91 Prelude SR

Nice to see one of these.
Too bad the fujimi chassis is that bad though.
I have been thinking of buying this kit since my first car was a Prelude 2,0i-16 4ws '88
Really nice cars but the rust killed mine..

Re: 91 Prelude SR

I do gotta say I like these ludes all though I have never seen this one before. I found an '84 once so I bought it. I wanted it to look more like the 90-91 body style like you have there just like your doing. Nice rim choice as well, I hope this one goes well for you cause you really don't see these too often at all. here some possible inspiration for you, I built this one about 4 years ago now so it's a little out dated already (forgive the clears and exhaust, I was experimenting) but I think it does look like the newer body and not the '84-85 in which it came

Yours will look alot better though I'm sure

Re: 91 Prelude SR

Well... mine will be a bit more JDM styled. More subtle and clean. I'm not so much into body kits n stuff, unless it's a drift car.

Martin S, mine's rusting around the rear wheel wells. Hopefully after school next year I'll be getting that fixed. Once I find a good job I plan to completely strip it down and rebuild it from the ground up. Doing all the things I have planned at that time. It will get a new color too. I have no idea what color yet. I love the black, looks REALLY nice when it's clean, but black is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean.

Re: 91 Prelude SR

I simply LOVE the BA4 Prelude. i had a gunmetal 1991 model...hmmm, brings back memories. I think it's funny...I started the same conversion some time ago to represent my Prelude. Your thread gives me some boost to look at it again...Thank you.
