a car under 1000cc that will go 10,000 miles

Yes, Im looking for a car under 1000cc that would theoretically be able to drive 10,000 miles. It's for the Mongol Rally

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongol_Rally

I dont plan on doing it until 2008, so i'm just throwing ideas about. I know nothing about cars apart from what I learned today. I learned that cars aren't sold below 1,100 cc anymore. A bit of an annoyance for me seeing as 10,000cc is the limit for the competition.

My Questions are.

1. In terms of endurance and value for money. What kind of car should I be looking for? We're not looking for speed

2. How much maintainance will it need before we go? And can this be done for cheap if I know a mechanic - which I do.

3. If a car drives for 10,000 miles, how often will it break down? A dumb question perhaps, but I know nothing about cars

He's looking for a car with 1000cc or less, those cars have MANY MANY more than 1000cc. Personally I don't know of any 1000cc cars so I'm no real help...

Re: a car under 1000cc that will go 10,000 miles

I don't know any specific vehicles either but i decided to try and find general info on the subject that may help.
First, I went to the Gran Turismo 4 video game to get some ideas on vehicles. The game has a decent amount of small engine vehicles including the citroen 2cv and austin mini which is found in the rally also. I found that many suzuki vehicles have engines this small and led me on a search online. I found this cool link about the car market in pakistan and how suzuki has been the leader of the small engine market you're lookin' at for a while.

Although the following are just assumptions, for reliability, my suggestion is get something made from suzuki or another top player in the game as they most likely have done their homework on their engines. anything will most likely be easy for a mechanic since its so damn small. Probably will be cheap because of its size, once again.
