Angry Anyone had probs w/ Rear Wiper?

Members:
I seem to have a wierd problem. I thought I had a bad motor in the rear windshield wiper, so I replaced it. However, I seem to have the same problem w/ the new motor.
The origional problem was that instead of moving the wiper across the glass on the rear liftgate, the motor made "clicking" noises. So, I thought it was the motor that died. However, the same thing occurs w/ the new motor, however the motor does move the bolt. But, w/ the wiper attached, it does not move it.

Has anyone come across such a problem. Any ideas or suggestions before I take it the dealership and get charged a lot of money?

Did you check the voltage at the harness for the wiper motor? Perhaps, it is an electrical problem getting enough voltage to the motor.

That I have not done yet.
But, why would and what would cause the voltage to drop? Bad wire maybe.
However, I'm not sure what the proper voltage should be. Any ideas?

I'll see if that's the problem.

Bad wire, bad connection. Voltage should probably be 12 volts. You can also run a fused lead from the battery to see if it works when 12 volts is applied.

Re: Anyone had probs w/ Rear Wiper?

Hi,
I had the same exact problem with rear wiper motor on my 2001 chevy tahoe. Wiper stopped working, so I bought a replacement motor. Right before I replaced it, gave old motor one last try. Only clicking noises. So I replaced motor, and much to my surprise (and annoyance), same exact clicking noises remained, and wiper didn't work. Did you find out why the clicking sound existed and if so, how were you able to fix it? Was it the voltage? I don't really want to take it to dealer so any input you have would be appreciated.

thanks!

I too have the same problem. I did find out the following. The orange wire is the power and the black is the ground. The other three wires control the wiper moter. One gives a signal for the motor to run when the washer is activated. the other wires interupt the operation when the tailgate is open.

I got mine to work when I turned everything on and got in the back and closed the hatch and plugged in the motor.

I installed the new motor and tried it and it was making a bumping sound like the motor was trying to advance one turn at a time.

I will get the wiring diagram tomorrow and trouble shoot this futher.

If there is anyone with additional information please let me know. The motors are not cheap.
