lights don't work

I have an 01 Grand Am GT and my service vehicle soon light came on. I didn't pay attention to it until nighttime when I noticed my entire dash wouldn't come on. I checked my headlights and the only light that came out was from the actual headlight bulb itself but not the other lights that are usually on. I checked the taillamps and they weren't on unless i put the brakes on. If anyone knows what could make all my lights not turn on, that would be great, thanks.

Re: lights don't work

Welcome to AF.
Sorry no one got to this sooner.

The SVS could be on for many reasons, the only real way to know is to get it scanned with a scann tool.

Typicly if it comes on during the day and not at night then you have a burnt high beam bulb.

But you say the tail lights are out too.
Check all the related fuses, in all 3 fuse boxes.

These models of GAs are know to have problems with the tail lights shorting out due to water leaking in them.
So I would check those as well.
Corrosion/rust builds up in the sockets of these,
then it breaks the connections, and or shorts them out totally.

Hope that helps!
