Did anyone watch this last night??

I’ve just got to say that I was pretty annoyed with the way the girls were being discussed at the end of the program by the photographer and team.

One of them “Didn’t have a hair, body part or anything that was unique”, one of them “the body was a bit of a problem. The legs could do with being longer”, one “face had no symmetry” etc, etc, etc. These girls are going to go home and watch this and hear themselves being discussed like that and these were the ones that made it into the final 12 out of thousands of girls that sent their pictures in. No wonder we’ve got so many girls with eating disorders and low self esteem.

Cant say I saw the show - was it local down there?

As for what they said, if they didn't feel comfortable with themselves they shouldn't have gotten involved. Nobody grabbed them and forced their participation.

It was an American show. It screened over here last night.

I know that nobody forced them to do it, but these were attractive girls with amazing bodies and they were being criticized for some supposed flaw. It just made me mad that's all (especially coming from the photographer who was far from perfect himself).

The girls that finally get chosen in the end are just going to be photochopped anyways to make them supposedly "perfect". I didn't get to see the show but the way you describe I'm glad I didn't. I know that I've been driven to not eating because of these images of "perfect" bodies.

I know what you're saying Spec although I didn't see it - it's a sad inditement on the society we live in.

Personally, someone who wants them to reconstruct themselves in the image of a Playmate indicates an abnormal sense of insecurity or a bizarre sense of narcissim. After all we talking about a body shape that is essentially outside of the 99% percentile (ie realistically and statistically these people are as much goddamn 'freaks' as the clinically obeses because their body shape is way way outside normality).

Unfortunately, we continue to get marketing and media thrust down our throats which idealises this one percentile (or less) as being 'ideal.' In fact along with the current fetish for abnormally thin 'supermodels' - this body type is probably not particularly healthy and sustainable in the normal course of life without resorting to some pretty unhealthy or abnormal behaviour.

And finally, the reptilian one ie Heff (ie not me I'm the replicatable one) is essentially in the business of selling glossy magazines that reflect his sense of idealism in femininity - which is superficiality in the hyperbole.

Now I'm not going to say its personality, personality, personality for the personal tastes of the Replicant - I do appreciate beauty and it's probably something that I place way too much emphasis on initially meeting someone - and I've found it isn't totally a good barometer for the rest of the package. However, you get that from taking the time to get to know someone rather than looking at the glossy cover - a bit like finding a good book.

What I also found amazing was the only “problem” they had with the girl that actually won is that her breasts were natural (and they were far from saggy). Because they were natural and big they didn’t sit up quite like the fake ones that all the others seemed to have. It’s a sad day when natural breasts are seen as more of a flaw than big bags of silicone.
