2002 Chevy Tahoe Stock Stereo, Amp and Sub
I can't find the answer to this anywhere. Can the factory CD/Stereo in a 2002 Chevy Tahoe (The older model stereo, not the one with the "big knobs") handle an Infinity 7521A 75 watt 2-channel amp powering an Infinity 850W 200 watt 8" sub? I'm affraid I'm going to have to buy a converter or something of the like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

Re: 2002 Chevy Tahoe Stock Stereo, Amp and Sub
if the amp does not have high level inputs, you will need a line output convertor

Re: 2002 Chevy Tahoe Stock Stereo, Amp and Sub
hi, i also have an 02 tahoe. The stock radio can be used for an amp and sub but to connect the amp then you will have to get an Scosche SLC4, which is a line output converter. All you have to do is splice into the nearest speaker to the amp and use the wires there to connect to the converter. Keep the speaker connected and just use that output from the car stereo for the amp. Once you connect the wires to the converter then you have the ability to run a set of rca's to the amp.

OR you can get a JL clean sweep. Its expensive but its better than scosche crap. And from what ive seen most LOC's have a limit on how much power the amp there supporting can put out. I know the ones ive seen at wally world only say 80 watts. BUt i cant qoute that since i have never had a reason to use one and i prefer aftermarket stereos over stock.

Re: 2002 Chevy Tahoe Stock Stereo, Amp and Sub
Yes you could get a JL clean sweep, but you better have the $$$. I dont use that scosche crap either. In another one of my vehicles i had to use one that i got from a local audio store of mine and it worked very well, however i dont remember the name of it. So what i simply did was type it in google and the scosche one was the first one that came up. But there are other brands out there that will do what you need them to do without spending out of the ass for the JL.

Your stereo system is only as good as its weakest component. THere are alternatives and there are more expensive ones, but when keeping a stock radio i would try and find something that will net better results considering the facotry radio isnt the greatest for quality. I think i seen one on ROE, or knuconceptz a little while back but i cant remember which it was.
