Re: 89 Caprice Idling problem

Welcome Aboard!

If the car has a TBI fuel system, it has an IAC motor.

Any source of excessive intake air can cause high idle, including vacuum hose leaks, an EGR leak, incorrect PCV valve, leaking power brake booster, or leaks at any gasketed joint. A sticking throttle cable, throttle plate, or sticking IAC can also cause high idle.

Re: 89 Caprice Idling problem

BB is correct in all of his statements. If it's a TBI car, a common cause of this is the gasket between the TBI and intake manifold.
