tail light fuse/ small missfire

I have a 88 crx dx automatic. ok i have a couple of questions here first and probably the easiest my fuse for my tail acc. and dash lights keeps blowing i cant figure out what it is. Does anyone know anything i could try? Also I have started to notice a small backfire when accelerating. I have replaced the fuel pump recently and at the same time i changed the fuel filter. I have also changed the plugs. If anyone has any knowledge greater than what I have it would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you have a wire shorting out somewhere. For the bogging, maybe check your timing.

I'm having the same problem with the lights. I got a quick fix for it. It will probably work for a while then just randomly blow a fuse again..

Buy that electric connection cleaner and clean all your light sockets out with a rag. Make sure you wipe them out good. Also if you can take a little piece of sandpaper and sand the inside of the connectors and the metal part on the light bulb. just be sure to blow out the leftovers before you put the lights back in.

This usually works for me, untill i actually get a day off to try and find the short in my car lol

Usually a common place that causes your interior/ parking light circuit to short out is your front corner light bulbs. Pull off your corner lights, take out the bulbs and scrape the socket with a sharp object. After that wack it a few times and rub electrical grease in the socket before installing the bulb. This usually helps alot of our cars.

ya thanks guys i'll try all that stuff. Didn't even think to check front corners. Does anyone else have anything on the misfire problem?

this might sound weird but I had the same problem and it was a connection behind the heater/airconditioner control thing. I just wiggled the wire around back there because I noticed the day before it went out that one of the lights back there wasn't glowing and the fuse stopped blowing and all the lights came back on

i am having this exact same problem, even with the idle, i have changed my flasher relay, dimmer switch, checked all the lights, and most of the other circuits, where else could it be shorted out? i even checked the haynes manual wiring diagrams and i am still stumped, any places i should check now? i got my turn signals to work for a while there, but now they will not work at all, they are not blowing a fuse, but just do not do anything, could it be the multi function switch on the side of the steering wheel? i really need tail lights to drive at night, and i kind of need turn signals, the #8 fuse blows instantly (even a 15 amp) as soon as i turn on the lights. thanks
