Cold air intake or short ram intake?

I want to make some improvments to my 2004 impala LS.I want to buy some kinda air intake but dont know what kind would give me the best gain in performance and gas. I want to buy in off ebay cause its pretty cheap but i dont know whats the difference in cold air intakes and short ram intakes. and is there a difference in if u buy a name brand company and a off brand company. i heard K&N are the best but i aint trying to spend over $150. Any help is greatly valued.

Your wasting your money on those intakes, all you need that serves the same purpose as those is just a k&n air filter, I just bought one here in canada for $75 bucks and I was complaining of my impala being hard on gas but my power has increased because of more airflow and also my gas milege has increased a lot also
