Unhappy D15b swap in 89 hatchback si

I have a 1989 civic hatchback si. i swapped a jdm d15b motor. But it won't start. i can't get any spark. i have the stock ecu, wiring harness, and intake. do i need to swap the ecu to make it run?(I already know i need it for v-tech) i have power at the distributer plug, but nothing at the cap. any help would be greatly apreciated.

Are you running obd-1 electronics? Because if you are it won't work with your obd0 stock stuff. You need a obd1 ecu, and convert your wiring to obd1. You can try running the motor obd0 but i wouldn't recommend that and you wont be able to use the VTAK.

Yes, you simply cant run obd1 electronics with a obd0 ecu and wiring. You either need to run the whole system obd0 or obd1; since you have a d15b VTAK you should run it obd1.

Re: D15b swap in 89 hatchback si

i got a d15b in my rex..this is what u need to do if u want the motor's full power.. u need to buy a conversion harness from obd0 to obd1 and also the jumpers for the distributer. a p28 ecu or a p08. if u run the p28 u need a 4 wire 02 sensor and if u run the jdm p08 thats made for that engine u need only a 1 wire 02 sensor.u will need a obd1 distributer off a 92-95 civic si sohc vtec d16z6. the power of a d15b vtec is 130 hp.im not to sure on the vtec-e tho. good luck with the swap.i would recomend goin through www.rywire.com for the wiring needs, good prices.
