key codes
I know that there is a way to get the codes to display on the computer on the console from useing the keys. Is this reliable and how is it done i have a 96 GJL 5.2 awd

For a '96 I am not sure about. OBD1 is off-on-off-on but yours should be obd2 and not positive if that can be done.

I have a 96, you turn it from off to run like 2 or 3(i think its 3) times in a row it will work.

It's three times with the on off thing. Last code is 55 and just means end of sequence. You pay attention to the ones before that. 12 means you disconnected the battery recently.

Not sure I understand when you say off and on 3 times does that mean i start the truck ?

No, you just need to turn the key to the "RUN" position, not to the "Start" position.
