Re: New pulley
3.4 is the lowest you want to go without adding other knock reducing mods as well.

Re: New pulley
Ok so what other mods would you suggest?

Re: New pulley
the minimum i would suggest for lowering pulley sizes would be a cold air intake and a PCM tune... other good things to consider would be colder spark plugs and a colder t-stat. Exhaust is also a biggie, but it's the most expensive to do of all of this.

Re: New pulley
wrong, the 3.4" is too much for the "basic" bolt-ons... that was ok in the '97-'03 Gen III M90 Cars, but the Gen V produces a lot more boost than the Gen III did, here is what I would do:
180 degree thermostat($8 autozone) 3" downpipe($110 ZZP) CAI(many to choose from homemade $45, vendors $150-$250) PCM(ZZP or Digital horsepower $69) 2 ranges colder plugs(Autolite 104s $12 autozone) scan your car(will need someone with an autotap, LS1m, or some other scanning device, or will need one yourself, $250) IF your KR is low, you should be able to drop to a 3.5" pulley(I was) although some people need to go with the 3.6" with those mods on the Gen V... With my 3.5" I see 10-12 lbs. of boost IN THE SUMMER, in the winter closer to 13 lbs. with blips in KR at the shift points(nothing major) to run a 3.4" pulley on the Gen V you need 1.9 ratio rockers and Ported exhaust manifolds at the least, sometimes more than that... unfortunately, the 1st people to tune '04 GTPs(the gen V m90 cars) had to learn this the hard way, more than one person popped a piston after running a 3.4" with the same mods the older Gen IIIs were running that size pulley with, it was quickly discovered the Gen V is a whole new beast, and is why in its stock form, its more efficient than a fully ported Gen III, people are swapping to the Gen V from the Gen III for a reason... No one has ported it, because you don't need too, zoomer has one running low 11s on the stock port job(with a different snout to allow a pulley smaller than a 2.8")

Re: New pulley
So who won? I think the srt-4 is still a bit faster when comparing stock.

Re: New pulley
oh and also no they are not faster stock
![]() Power: 215 hp (2003 model), 230 hp (2004-2005 models). Torque: 245 ft·lbf @ 3000 rpm (2003 model), 250 ft·lbf @ 2200 rpm (2004-2005 models

Quote:
2004 GP GTP- 3477lbs - 260hp/280lb. ft.---thats 13.37 lbs per horsepower 2003 Neon SRT-4 - 2559lbs - 215hp/245lb.ft.---11.90 lbs per horsepower 2004-05 Neon SRT-4 - 2559lbs - 230hp/250lb.ft.---11.12lbs per horsepower As you can see the neon will dominate if the drivers are of the same skill level.....Lets face it we have pretty fast cars but they sure are heavy...

Re: New pulley
yeah you won't beat a Srt-4 stock of any model in any model Grand Prix UNLESS its the GXP, then its going to be a hell of a race... 2nd, did you put the 3.4" on? if so ABORT MISSION! Man I am telling you, as a person who doesn't want to see it happen to another '04 GTP, you DON'T have the mods for that pulley, its equivalent to running a 3.25" pulley on the '97-'03 GTPs, which requires a lot more mods than you have, you probably have KR out the ass and are SLOWER than you would be with the 3.5"(because of all the timing being pulled due to NOT being able to support the extra boost)....
