2002 Eclipse GT question

Hi,

My roomate is looking at a 2002 Eclipse GT with a V6 and I am just wondering if there is anything specific that I should look for or any probelm(s) that model is known for.

The car has been hit in the front passenger side and the bumper skin, fender, inner fender and hood have been replaced as well as the windshield and the lower A-arm. It runs well and it tracked well down the road during the test drive.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: 2002 Eclipse GT question

make sure it doesnt' have a sunroof judder, that's the one that drives me crazy. also check the headlight harness and make sure it isn't melted. check for bends or curbrash on the rims. and make sure the antifreeze isn't brown. other than that, take it to a mechanic just to have him do a one over on it just in case.

all the other problems are unfixable/do not have anything to do with reliability
ie:

tob rattle
lifter tick
fuel pump gurgle

Thanks for the info. what do you mean by sunroof judder? I will be sure to check for those things next time I take a look at it.

Re: 2002 Eclipse GT question

If it has a sunroof, it is common for this car that when you press "open" on the sunroof, it will pop halfway up and stop unless you punch it up as you hit open. It will close fine, but it gets stuck when you open it. Not a big deal at all to just leave it as is (mine is like this and it doesnt really bother me), and I think to fix it you need to get the rails replaced (not sure how much it all costs).
