Re: New Montana sv6
I purchased a 2006 Uplander, a sister to the Montana, and overall have been very pleased.Previously, I owned two Chevy Ventures, which were replaced by the Uplander. My Ventures experienced many of the problems that plagued the GM FWD minivans from the late '90s to early 2000's including the intakes, various electrical issues, sliding door, etc. To me, it seemed GM to finally have listened to the customer in redesigning these vans. The 17" tires give a better ride, and my kids really enjoy the entertainment center which includes a DVD player. The problem with the intake gaskets was resolved back in 2002 with the issuance of a revised design. The engines in the newer vans are 3.5 and 3.9 and should not have any of those problems. I like the responsiveness of the engine as well. I also like the fact that in the redesign, the front end was extended, giving you more room in the engine bay to do work, and even doing simple maintenance like checking power steering fluid,or brake fluid is even easier. There is definitely more room where the engine sits over the older style van.
If you have any further questions about these redesigned vans feel free to post them here and I or someone on the forum can answer them.
