General AC Question

I was at the auto parts store and i saw they have this stuff that is supposed to seal any freon leaks, weather its a rubber leak or metal. the directions say to attach it to the low pressure side, run it thorugh the system then immediately charge the system with freon after. im not sure if anyone else has seen something like this but im just wondering how effective do you all think this would be??? im thinking its probably only good for sealing small leaks if anything.

Re: General AC Question

You answered your own question! If you have a small leak this stuff will work fine, however, if you have a fairly large leak then you are wasting your money. Take the car to a shop to find and repair the leak otherwise you are probably just wasting your money.

Re: General AC Question

yeah i kinda figured that, i think what i may do is just charge the system first and see how long it takes for the air to start blowing warm again. by the length of how long it takes, when should i forget about trying that sealer stuff? if it only takes a couple of days or less?

Re: General AC Question

If it leaks out in less than a week the problem is beyond the sealer's range of effectiveness.
