Washing Shoes

I'm not proud to say this, but, this St. Patty's day got out of control, and I had one too many Irish Car Bombs...

So, is there any way to wash those very nice brown suede Steve Berra DVS's I showed you guys on the Shoe Thread? I've febreezed the fuck out of them and they still smell like italian food and bile.

Re: Washing Shoes

You know those square pink erasers you used in school for pencils? Try that on the suede, rub it back and forth across the suede and than take a old toothbrush and brush the suede really fast. Takes all the stains out and eventually any odor but it takes a while to do the entire shoe with a little eraser and toothbrush.

Re: Washing Shoes

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH....this is a story I need to hear.

Anyway, my St. Patrick's Day was good until late afternoon. I dubbed video for a competition all weekend at work, and then I found out that one of my good friends died jumping in Georgia. Ridiculously unbelievable.

Shoes! OMG! Shoes! OMG! Just go to Foot Locker or something and buy some suede shoe cleaner...

just had to post it:

won't the toothbrush ruin the suede? i think there are some brushes specifically designed to clean suede, they're supposed to be safe to use on suede. maybe you should check some shoe store and see what products they carry for it.

Nope I do it all the time, obviously make sure its a clean toothbrush and not covered in toothpaste lol. But uh yeah it just brushes the suede side to side pretty much and removes anything thats trapped in the fibers.

Re: Washing Shoes

you can try sprinkling on some dry baking soda and gently brushing it with a toothbrush. it should help the smell to go away (baking soda neutralizes almost any bad smell) and help to fade stains if there are any.

you also might try mixing any type of "mild soap" with some water til you have a nice sudsy mix. then take a sponge, dip it in the suds and apply ONLY the suds to the area. then blot clean with a separate clean cloth and restore the nap of the suede with a toothbrush.
