89 Ciera cranks won't start

Bought a 1989 Olds Cutlass Ciera 2.8l 6cyl two weeks ago from a mech. and it ran very good. It quit on me after a week, but i sprayed starter fluid in the the intake at the air filter area and with a jump it started and ran for two days. but now it cranks but won't start. I charged the battery once, checked the cables and are fine with no corrosion. Receiving voltage from all the charging components, and I am planning on getting the ignition coil tested once i figure out how to remove it with my Haines manual book instructions. the lights and radio work. there is fuel in the injectors and the the tank is half full. i cleaned the throttle with a throttle cleaner the day i sprayed the starter fluid. who knows? should i take anything else in to get tested?

Re: 89 Ciera cranks won't start

thanks. but i have new worries... went under the car to check the starter and solenoid connections and found oil outside of my oil filter area, it ran down from above the oil filter area. could there be a blown head gasket? if there is a blown head gasket would it just crank and not start? i checked the oil dipstick and there is still oil in the engine. Is the head gasket the same as a oil gasket? please help....

crank posion sensor if it's gone you can keep turning and over and will not start.and gaskets well same put different.. and if head gasket in can start but if theres a bunch aniti or water in cylenders your plug's could be very wet and wont start..good luck.....
