Paint question will it work?

I had some problems when painting my Revell Enzo and ruined the paint on the hood when I cleared it with 2k zero clear.

So the question is is it possible to sand the clear smooth and use it as the base when I paint it again or must I strip it to the plastic again???

If itīs possible it would save a lot of time as it is only the hood that is bad.

Re: Paint question will it work?

As long as the color coat does not attack the clear coat it can work. You may want to test spray some of the paint on something that has been clear coated first as a test. You will however have a little bit thicker amount of paint build up, so some of the details or body shape edges maybe a bit softer. I've done it with other paint combinations and had it work out well. Often well enough that no one can tell... - Mark

If you're using zero paints as the base color, then you'll be fine. Just sand it down and mist a few light coats untill you get a solid base color and then re-clear.
