'99 Astro Seating Options

Hi, I have a '99 Astro with two seats in the middle row and the bench in the rear. So, it seats 7. I need capacity for one more and was wondering if anyone knows if I can retrofit a bench in place of the two seats in the middle.

I'm assuming the '99 had a bench option for the middle. I am wondering if I got a bench from a salvage yard if it would fit in where the seats are without a lot of custom modification. I'm assuming the different seat options used the same floor set up to make scheduling & assembly at the factory easier. Could be a big assumption.

How the van was ordered originally from the factory, will determine seat placement and mounting configuration. If the interior is "factory issue" with center captain chairs and a rear bench seat, it will not have "pockets" in the floor for a center bench seat. If it was ordered as a cargo van, or "converter ready", (for a van conversion company to modify) there will be no pockets at all. There are mounting kits available to mount a bench or sofa to the floor along with the seat belts. If you find an aftermarket conversion in a salvage yard, make sure you get the mounting kit too.
