I have two questions tranny and UIM/LIM

or is that three...Hello. I'm new here and I have two questions if anybody wants give it a hand. I have a 1997 sse anniversery edition and I’ve had one engine put in already, now this engine I have now is doing the same thing my old engine was doing, a bunch of white smoke coming out the exhaust and my antifrezze keeps going to low coolant indication. But before all of this, I would maybe be driving 30- 40 mph. and when I go to punch it for any reason or another I get one big tranny slip. And have to try again with success. Do these two things have anything to do with one another if anybody has had this problem before? Is a sensor gone bad for my slipping or what? very very fustrated...

Sounds like intake manifold issues, the famous UIM or a head gasket, either way you need to get this looked at asap, trans slip is not usually related to this issue. No sensor for slipping, You could get it scanned on a trans function scannner for slippage errors, this assumes the fluid is full and clean.

Looks good, and cheap. Wonder who makes it. Coolant is an issue try and find out where this is coming from, should never be any where the pic shows. I'd do the lim gskts just for insurance here.

yeah i took the the whole LIM off too. gaskets where all hosed up... drained my oil today and it was about a quart of coolant in it....got the new alluminum ones from GM...i guess thats why my car wouldnt start in the end before i started the repair because of so much antifreeze

the upper UIM is an APN Brand from this guy, who's called a bonneville "Gearhead"...he's a god on bonnevilles......http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...profile&u=2199

Re: I have two questions tranny and UIM/LIM

UIM / LIM meaning: Upper Intake Manifold and Lower Intake Manifold
