Question programming TWO keyless entry remotes for a 2001 chevy venture

we just recently got a 2001 chevy venture and the guy we bought it from bought us 2 new keyless entry remotes for it. i found the instructions on how to program 1 but i cant get BOTH programmed at the same time...i program 1 and then do the steps with the next one like it says to do with any additional remotes and it like programs the one im working on but deactivates the first one...ive tried programming them both at the same time and that wont work either. how do i get BOTH of my remotes programmed and working at the same time?

Welcome to the forum!

First of all, what procedure are you following to program these things? There is a procedure that seems to work in the Pontiac/Montana forum.

Above you say "and then do the steps with the next one" - In the instructions I have seen it says "Repeat the step above for other remotes".

So maybe you missed that. I think it is only ONE step for the other remotes, which I seem to recall is pushing the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Take Care,

i believe that is where i got the instructions from was that one you are talking about and when i said and then do the steps with the next one i was meaning what you quoted from the instructions for repeating the above steps for any other remotes BUT i did that i programmed one remote and then it worked fine so i did the same thing i did with that remote to the 2nd remote and it deactived the FIRST remote i programmed and then the 2nd remote was the only one that worked. i also read that it can do that and you are to program them at the same time well i tried that too and that didnt work either so im at a loss right now

The Good News is - you have been doing it RIGHT, at least for each of the remotes by themselves. So I have copied the steps below that should work.

Lets call them Remote A and Remote B.

For Remote A - do all the steps listed in the instructions until you reach step 8.

Important
After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming.

8 A. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds. This is Remote A.

*** Now for Remote B ***
8 B. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds. This is Remote B.

(You just did this in step 8B - don't do it again) 9. Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed.

10. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder.

11. Install the BCM PRGRM fuse back into the fuse panel.

If these are the exact steps that you tired, you might want to try it again, just to be sure. These are the steps that I used to program my 2 remotes.

Take Care,

Re: programming TWO keyless entry remotes for a 2001 chevy venture

I got Venture 2002, and I think I did it same way to program both of our remote.

Just follow instruction and you will be fine.

Vey sincerely,

Dino
