A friend of mine is having trouble with brake lights on 1992 Camry. What could it be?

Re: 1992 Camry brake light trouble

What specific trouble is he having? Possible causes:

> Bulbs
> Fuse (not sure if there is a separate brake light fuse)
> Corroded bulb sockets
> The brake lamp switch on the brake pedal lever
> The light failure sensor in the trunk
> Wiring

Wiring near the trunk hinge.
It flexes every time you open the trunk.
After cutting open the sheathing I found a couple of wires that broke with light finger pressure. Soldered in a replacement wire section, then later had to go back in again for additional wire breakage.
This time I spliced in an new length of wire for each one, coiling the new wires around a Phillips screwdriver to create a wire coiled like a telephone handset to better resist repeated flexing.
So far, no problems.
