4th gen vs. 240sx
yea, so i was wondering about 240sx's and how fast are they? I know they are rear wheel drive and have 140 horse stock........ has anyone raced a 240? like, how would a ls engine in a 4th gen do against a 240sx? the teg ls engine is 140 horse also, but i think the 240 engine make a hell of a lot of tourqe, it think it has more tourqe than hp.... so that means a lot...... but i wanna know how much...... can anyone reply to this?

Civics should outrun it.
Now if it was a real SX... 180SX that is, no chance

BTW - having more torque means nothing. Look at the power figures. A hypothetical car with more torque down low, but say 140bhp at 5600rpm is no quicker than a car with little torque, but 140bhp at 7600rpm. It's just the way that the power is made. Torque is converted to power at rpm, but the final power output equates to how quick the car is.
I had a good eplanation for this somewhere, will see if I can dig it out as I posted it a while back. |

my buddie has a 94 240sx that ran 16 flat stock. But a ls civic will wear it out. Because it is a hell of a lot lighter

cuz the car i had before my crx was a 91 240sx hicas 2.4L 140hps and 150ish tq when it was stock i was running head to head with my friends integra (94) for the first 2 gears and third he started to slowly pull on me after my bolt ons i was running about 15.5-.6 (GSR status) the low end is great for stop light racing but once you hit the hwy the 240 is as slow as a geo metro my friends swapped a sr20det and he was running 14flat stock *edit* dont forget the 240s had a truck engine which is kinda stupid

So it sounds like a good race either way, a few civics won a few civics lost....

why do you guys keep saying it has such little bit hp. it comes with 150hp and 160 torque, not 140hp.
so id say it should be fast as civic si's, which clock around a 16 flat stock so unless you run faster than a 16.5, youd lose to a 240sx |

I had a friend that had a 240SX once... and when I raced her, I handed her her ass.... of course, I was in a 1991 735i (damn bmw was faster then you'd think)
I'm pretty sure a 240SX could beat a Civic off the line, but a Civic would probably catch up in 3rd gear on... Well... sept for my little D15B that is, in which case, I'd be looking around saying "Where did he go, George? Where did he go?" like on all those old bugs bunny cartoons.:finger:

I have a '96 240sx. Totally stock, except for suspension and larger tires/wheels. I can hang with late-model GS-Rs (when I say hang, I dont mean get beat after 3rd gear. I mean stay w/ them till i top out).

dont forget this too. alot of 240 owners dont realize they are driving a truck engine. most 240 guys take there car up to redline but when in fact they should be short shifting at around 5500

nothing I've ran with could beat some of the 240's around here, even with the KA24 truck engine they were still beating all of my ridez. I once had the mistake of racing one in the EX, he had swapped in a SR20DET and when the light turned green all I saw was his tail lights. You also have to remember the EX had bad rings which I didn't know at the time.
