Lights dimming in dash.

My '96GCL lights in dash and info center will dim and sometimes go out. This happens at night. It does not matter if the switch is in auto or manual.
Anyone have any ideas?

the switch for the headlights is probably bad. i had the same problem with my 98 GCL when the lights were on. the connections in the back on my jeep were just loose so i cleaned them and tightened them up and everything went back to normal. but it is more than likely the headlight switch.
