Talking Tamiya 350Z, need one!

So, I am going to take your advice and get my son the Tamiya 350Z, however I went to my LHS and they told me that the kit is discontinued and on top of that they are no longer going to carry Tamiya products . I found one on hobbylinc.com for $22.49 and $6 or so shipping. Does anyone know if this kit is being discontinued or has been? I know that there are a few of you that have online stores, it would be nice to support you guys as you give and help so much, any of you have this kit?

Thanks

Re: Tamiya 350Z, need one!

Tamiya doesn't seem to say anything about it. I wouldn't worry about it. There are many, many other kits that Tamiya will discontinue before the 350Z. It's a current popular kit for them of a current popular car. But if your LHS is going to discontinue carrying Tamiya, it's time to look elsewhere anyway.

Hobbylinc is a great place to order from- I've used their service a number of times. And even if the 350 becomes difficult to get, they have lots of other great kits, too. The Miata (Eunos), New Beetle, S2000, Boxter- (I could go on) are all terrific beginner kits.

Fry's Electronics retail stores have had the Tamiya 350Z kits marked down to $14.90.

The original release was discontinued, but replaced with a nearly identical kit. (I think they modified the rear wing or something). It's still in production.

LHS not carrying Tamiya anymore? That doesn't seem like a smart business move to me, but I suppose he's got his reasons.

Re: Tamiya 350Z, need one!

Cool, well that makes sense if they changed something in the kit why they showed that one discontinued. This is for my son, almost 8, he really likes the 350Z so I wanted to find one for him, plus it was recommended by some of you guys.

I thought that it was strange that my LHS is not going to carry Tamiya anymore as well, it's even a Hobbytown USA! Then again, their main focus has always been on RC cars and now even more on specialty toys. Guess I will be doing my shopping online.

Thanks for your replys and suggestions, it is very much appreciated. I will have pics up soon, after his birthday, with progress on the kit.
