2000 Glove Box Latch
Suddenly my glove box won't latch shut. It's hard to see why because pushing the door closed obscures the latching mechanism - but it looks like the latch isn't engaging the strike. Anybody else had this problem? How'd you fix it?
Thanks!

Re: 2000 Glove Box Latch
I have a 2003 and I am willing to bet that I know your problem. I had the same issue when we first bought ours (used). First off, make sure the latch is open, hold the lid and pull the flap to open. Second, here is where my problem was, the receiver for the latch is a bit flimsy and mine got pushed back when I was changing the cabin filter. Pull the receiver outwards a bit, if you use a flashlight, you can see if it is out of adjustment. Once I finally got it lined up, haven't had a problem since.

Re: 2000 Glove Box Latch
That was it. The latch was bent backward. It was pointing straight up and down, which 'looked' right but it was actually supposed to be pointing slightly forward. No idea how it got bent.
Thanks for the help!

Re: 2000 Glove Box Latch
The secret to how it got bent is either:
1. Someone bent it shoving stuff in the glove box or the latch was already closed and someone then tried to force the door closed. |
