Question passlock or something else?

ok. my brother and i were replacing the starter of my car 'cause it was broken and he told me not to leave one the battery cables touch anything else but by accident it did and it seems like it activated the theft system. after replacing the alternator (it works) we tried to start the car but it won't start...the theft system light is on and my car seems like is gonna start but it does not. sounds like when you're out of gas. we checked the battery(good), the starter(good), fuses(good) , gas pump (it makes the right sound), besides we tried using the starting fluid and it makes noises like if it's going to start but doesn't....so any advice will be welcome...i think it must be the theft system so i need to reboot it but don't know how....i would appreciate any comments.

Re: passlock or something else?

if you triggered the system you either have to have the code clear by diagnostic scanner or disable the system. when you turn the key it rolls and fires and dies. try discnonnecting the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. reconnect ands try to start. bad part aout this is if you cant get it started you cant disable it. the car has to be runnign to cut the wire. try the battery and see what happens.
