Rigging relay to starter to overcome intermittent starting issue on 4x4 Toyota
i ahve read where you can rig a relay to overcome the intermittent starting issue that some toyota 4x4 pickup trucks have. anyone know the exact instructions how to rig it up?
can you post the directions. i have an 89 4x4 V-6 automatic toyota pickup that has the intermittent starting problem. some say they have totally cured this problem by rigging up the special relay to the starter --trying to figure out how one does this |

Re: Rigging relay to starter to overcome intermittent starting issue on 4x4 Toyota
i think it somehow involves running a wire from the cold start injector to a relay , then running another wire from the relay to the solenoid [and disconnecting the existing solenoid wire], and then running another wire from the relay to the postive battery post.
does this sound like it might work? anyone try this for an intermittent starting issue on a 4x4 toyota? |

Assuming your problem is not due to the neutral safety switch, you can wire a momentary pushbutton to the starter solenoid.

Re: Rigging relay to starter to overcome intermittent starting issue on 4x4 Toyota
I had the same problem on my 85 truck. It was a wire in the harness behind the ignition switch. I just put a nice pushbutton on dash. Battery to starter solinoid, like previous post mentioned. I would turn key first, thinking that pushbutton alone may not turn EFI fuel relay on. I would turn key for a couple seconds and then push button. We replaced the igition switch recently and it is now fixed.
