94 Beretta with shift problems HELP
I've got a 94 Beretta w/4 sp transaxle and 3.1 V6. It seems the shift cable from the shifter to the shift shaft/neutral safety switch will not take an adjustment. Nothing unusual has happened, worked fairly well prior to this, except difficulty getting it into park (but at least I could start it in neutral and it drove fine in all gears. Could it be the shift cable? It's trying to move the shift arm, and occasionally it gets into reverse but not back out. I haven't found an aftermarket cable, and I fear the shift problem may be inside the transaxle body. Any advice??? Thanks.

Re: 94 Beretta with shift problems HELP
Try disconnecting the cable and move the lever by hand from under the hood. If it moves freely, the calbe is probably internally frayed and needs replacement. If it still binds by hand, tehn it may be an internal trans issue.

Re: 94 Beretta with shift problems HELP
Thanks - it can be shifted by hand, so it sounds like the cable itself. But no one carries it, even GM direct. Off to the "junk" yard I guess.
