oil warning light

I have a 1997 sunfire 2.2. After the car warms up and is sitting in idle my oil light comes on when you acclelerate(or rev the engine) it goes off. I noticed that any time it goes uneder 1000 rpms is when the light comes on. I checked my oil and it is full. I have done an oil change on it and still no help. any suggestions on what it could be...

Re: oil warning light

Check the oil pressure sending unit should be located above the oil filter. Change it with a new one to see if you have a problem or try a mechanical guage. It is possible that the oil pump is going bad but doubtful.

Re: oil warning light

I have the same problem...I replaced the oil pressure sending unit....The light still went on under 1,000 rpms.

So i installed a oil pressure gauge on my dash...and sure enough i've noticed oil pressure going down to zero.

So i did the next thing of installing a new oil pump....
Thinking my problems will be solved....

The oil pressure still goes down to 0. So now i have no idea what is going on...
