Replacing front bumper cover
Yesterday, my dad bumped the trailblazer into some guy's tow hitch platform. It went through the bumper and pushed the left fog light back. Now, the plastic in the wheelwell touches the tire when the wheel is turned to the right. So the TB needs at least a new bumper cover (the hitch just missed the bumper bar underneath), a wheel well, and most likely a new fog light, as its housing was bent up. I tried pulling some of the stuff back through the hole in the front, but couldn't, as the plastic is bent in spots. Anyone know how much this might cost to fix? I could do this myself, right, save for maybe the wheelwell, as I don't have a lift. Though, I could jack it up with the spare jack and remove the wheel. Anyone know how hard this would be to do it all? I'm assuming the way GM vehicles are pieced together would make it easy to take apart and replace. I know the interior pieces are quite easy to disassemble and reassemble.
It'd be nice to keep the insurance company out of it, as the insurance will be increasing, as I've had two 20+mph over tickets in the past 8 months.
By the way, this happened under 5 mph, so he says. I can understand it. Solid metal against a flimsy bumper.
