Seatbelt retractor problem

Lately, the driver's side seatbelt is not retracting. If I assist it, it will go in, it just does not have enough pull to retract by itself. This is a problem as I have closed the door on the seatbelt several times now.

I have an 01 extended cab with the seatbelt retractor in the driver's seat.

Has anyone else had this problem and is the cure anything except a new retractor?

Thank you.

Re: Seatbelt retractor problem

i have not had this problem but saw some posts on here once and they said it was cheaper to replace the seat than to fix the seatbelt.

Re: Seatbelt retractor problem

For some reason I want to say this was a recall for the early model nbs.

It may not be though.

Re: Seatbelt retractor problem

I got the same problem. Eccept mine quit retracting alltogether. Is there a recall. Another problem I have, is my 4 wheel drive will not go in to 4 wheel drive. Some say it's the push button part of it. I use to have a S-10 Blazer 4x4 and it did the same thing, wouldn't go in to 4 wheel drive. It was also the push button 4x4. On that one, it was the box behind the ashtray. I finally took the box out, and put it in the glove box, where it was easy to get to, and when I went in at night, I would unplug the box and bring it inside, out of the cold, and plug it back in, in the morning. And it would work. I don't know if it was a reset feature, or bringing it in from the cold. But it was better than paying $500.00 bucks for a small box. Which may or may not have been the problem. Between the seat belt and the push button 4x4, the rock is getting to be a pebble.
