Stock 91 civic? If it is as long as it has had regular oil changes and some plugs and air filter once in a while. It should still be good. Whats the mileage on it anything from 0-200,000 it just breaking it. lol Really about 100,000 to 150,000 is still really good. BTW went to junk yard this weekend and I could not believe a 89 civic wagon (staion weapon) 543,867 miles on it with a 1.5 in it. Going back this weekend and smuggling in a camera. Cause theres a big sign saying NO CAMERAS. oh well... thats what I got to say....

don't even sweat it...i'm also a vw owner (but mine is air-cooled )

there is a lot of potential for a civic. yea, the timing belts do break but not always. i've had hondas with 300,000+ miles on stock engine and ran strong as if it only had 50,000.

go look around www.4thgenerationcivic.com :jump:

1000 to fix the timing belt?
Maybe if it goes out, but usually any mechanic will change out the timing belt and water pump (which should be replaced also) for $300 or less... or you can attempt to do it yourself... is not too teribly hard if you have the tools at your disposal, and then it only costs you the price of the belt and the pump.
Now if you didn't replace the timing belt and it did break, then that would be a little expensive to fix, yeah.
As far as the advantages and disadvantages.... I see no disadvantages, and have been nothing but happy with mine!
There are almost an unlimited number of ways you can customize them. They're very stylish. Already pretty quick, and can be made DAMN FAST with the right mods...
