acceleration noise & excessive fuel consumption

Hi - newbie here. I have a 94 cavalier and it's making a strange ticking noise when i accelerate. it doesn't do it when idiling or when accelerating lightly. i've also noticed that my fuel consumption has almost doubled...any idea's?? I just had new spark plugs and wires installed and a new fuel filter, air filter, oil filter/change and thermostat...i've spent a lot of $$ and am still having problems - can anyone help me?

Re: acceleration noise & excessive fuel consumption

if your fuel consumption has douboled that car has to be runnign really rich. vacume leak could read tell o2 to balance out the gas. but it shouldnt be runnig at all with that much gas. replace the o2 sensor and see what happens and with the car running takle a can of brake clean and start squirting it around the tbi or injectors and when it starts to bog or rev find the vacume leak and repair it
