Re: new to the forum introduction

Welcome to the forums. Just to let you know we have an off topic area for this kind of thing. This section is just for street racing stories. I'll move it to the right forum.

As for engine mods, what do you want to do with the car? Street car, drag race, auto-x, road race?

Other than that, welcome!

On a serious note though, you have a 16 second car, i would say forget about street racing and go for autocrossing, Lower the car get some nice sway and strut bars and you should do fine there. Cause for power mods you wont get much gains unless you go turbo, though they do make nice superchargers for those models.

Oh and if you stay I'm gonna call you Jessie.

He's 17... a '98 Jetta is all he can probably afford for the moment... it's fine.

It's a good starter car. Just like the Civic, it's versitle and peppy. Enjoy, but keep safe.

Correction, it's still faster than a civic.

haha, I'm not comparing them like that, just stating like the Civic it's a good starter car that's fun to drive.

sorry man but i have yet to be in a civic that is fun to drive, when its pretty much stock (meaning im not talking about those super civics that run a 13 second pass or less.)

Re: new to the forum introduction

My friend had a '90 Civic Si Hatchback. Was slow as mud, but was fun to drive around in. Since it was a non-Vtec model, our 'Vtec' was turning off the A/C for added punch.

It's all about just having fun with what you have my friend.

true, guess im just not a civic guy, I had the sedan version of a 3kgt as my first car (very comfortable with nice power, i miss the diamante) and I had fun with that. I had my '94 Celica GT, handling was freaking awsome which let me have alot fun with that one and now i have my current 2. I guess it's different kinds of fun for each car. My jetta is fun cause people don't know whats coming, and the RX-8 is fun cause it goes through twists like it's on rails. I'm sure the civic has fun qualities, but from my car experiences the civic isnt fun to me.

Well, it's hard to like a car of that caliber once you've been exposed to cars such as the Rx-8.

Although, I suspect that the newer Civic Si's and the JDM Type-R's handle pretty dang well for a Front driver.

I've seen the newer SI's on the Autocross course and those things hand take a corner pretty tight and neat too, but i'd still prefer the jetta over them cause once youre through that corner youre out of V-tec (exagerrating a bit here) But yeah they do good autocrossing.
