Cool Lower Ball Joints

I was reading up about ball joints and found out that they take a lot of the impact when going over bumps. My 98 GTP has 150k on it and I know the ball joints on it need to be replaced. I picked up a set of them and am planning on doing it today after work. My concern is that when I drill out the 3 rivets holding in the old ball joint, is that whole brake assembly under pressure? I dont want it catapulting itself and smashing my hand off or something crazy like that. Seems like a pretty basic job - remove the top bolt and drill out the three rivets. Am I underestimating the difficulty of this?

Really, I'm just curious as to what will happen when I release the tension on that ball joint. Any insight would be appreciated.

Alex

Re: Lower Ball Joints

Just place a jack under the arm of the suspension, drill out or grind the rivets and lower the jack...voila! no smashed hands ;D
