Re: Can you drive with just headers?

Loud as hell. Shouldn't blow anything up though, just don't do it too long cause those exhaust gases can melt stuff under there.

Did the same thing with my 79 T/A when I put headers on. Gawd was it LOUD. Didn't do any harm though.

Re: Can you drive with just headers?

it's quite fun. i've been in a '64 (i think) Nova with just headers and straight pipes to the side. blew flames, made noise. luckily due to age the car wasn't under any noise or emissions regualtions.

Re: Can you drive with just headers?

Yeah, I did that for a few days, just headers. Ungodly loud. You'll have a headache after driving with them like that. I liked it a first, but then I couldn't wait to get everything connected back up again. But I kinda miss the open headers. No one wants a piece of you when your car sounds like that.

Re: Can you drive with just headers?

I drove my 92 with open headers a few times...I wish they were legal, people don't know what the hell is going on when you pass them throwing exhaust everywhere. The sound is crazy

Re: Can you drive with just headers?

ive been driving around with just the headers and a few feet of pipe cut before the y section for a few months now. yeah...loud... i havent had any problems with the noise though... from the police anyways. i was just removing the cats when i got lazy and just left it open. I drive the car everyday so im not worried about it. If the car was going to sit for a while i would be concerned about moisture getting into the engine.

anyways...i think the question is answered... that being yes you can...

Shouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't get on it or anything just to be safe. For your ears sake I don't think you'd want to anyway!!
