What is it ?

I received as a gift a 1989 Mustang GT and I am trying to figure out what is under the hood. I have concluded that it is indeed a 302 but here is the problem : I canot tell what year it is. If anyone can please tell me what year did ford quit putting mechanical fuel pumps on the 302.

Casting Numbers

That is a very good question. Now here is another one. Where should I begin to look for the casting numbers. Thanks for your interest.
