V6 rear plug replacement

Ok I have to remove the upper intake to get at the rear plugs but do I need to purchase a gasket to reinstall it or is there a reusable gasket on the manifold?
What is the tightening sequence and torque for the bolts on the intake?

Re: V6 rear plug replacement

Did you figure this out?

I would replace the gasket unless it is just a metal shim....

I've never worked on this engine yet, but a metal shim type can be reused if cost is a factor.

Re: V6 rear plug replacement

I know this is an older post, but for viewers looking for the answer to the same question, The upper intake manifold gasket is actually six (V-6) blue colored almost rubber band like material that slip into individual oval grooves on manifold. Really easy to install. The old ones on my 2001 Escape with 90,000 actually looked pretty good but the cost for new at Ford dealer was only $11.00 total for all six plus tax. Too cheap not to replace with new.

Re: V6 rear plug replacement

Thanks for the definitive answer, this should save us all some time.

Sounds like blue silcone O-rings. A tip for keeping these in place during installation: use a light coat of petroleum jelly.

Any knowledge of service documentation for this vehicle on the web yet?
